The Human Resources Committee (HR) fosters a supportive, high-performance culture within GSR by overseeing talent acquisition, member engagement, and professional development. Beyond internal operations, HR also aims to empower GSR members with long-term personal and professional growth opportunities.
Goals of the Human Resources Committee:
- Support continuous skill development through diverse learning opportunities and resources.
- Encourage personalized growth by offering tailored training and development experiences.
- Expand external opportunities for members to engage in internships, fellowships, and mentorship.
- Foster a culture of guidance and mentorship to promote long-term career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
Professional & Skill Development: The GSR Development Program
- Establish a structured program offering diverse workshops, webinars, and training to develop
skills in:
o Teamwork & Communication
o Project Management & Leadership
o Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking
o Industry-Specific & Technical Skills (by request) - Create a library of learning resources for continuous member growth.
- Organize expert-led training for specific committees or roles.
- Explore fellowships, internships, and external development opportunities for GSR members.
- Potentially develop a structured mentorship or alumni guidance system.

- Plan and execute workshops, training sessions, and webinars.
- Develop long-term skill-building initiatives (e.g., mentorship programs, external fellowships).
- Compile and share opportunities for GSR members (grants, scholarships, leadership programs).
Working in the HR committee in GSR, I have learned how to work with minimal instructions.

As an HR member, I’ve learned how to maintain a positive environment among GSR members by addressing their conflicts and concerns. This experience has greatly enriched my understanding and skills especially since it’s my first time in this role!

I have developed the skill of breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable steps and effectively coordinating and delegating tasks with other committees to ensure clarity and collaboration.
