Human Resources Committee

The Human Resources committee fosters a supportive environment by focusing on Performance Management, Member Relations, and Talent Acquisition to ensure a thriving team culture.

Goals of the Human Resources Committee:

Performance Management Team
  • Conducting Performance Evaluations: send out monthly evaluations, analyze results, calculate volunteer hours, and address underperformance.
  • Sending Recognitions and Reward: acknowledges hard workers through verbal shout-outs non-verbal rewards like monetary incentives, and track progress within the groups.
  • Conducting Training and Development Sessions: Organize sessions for committees or individuals by finding the right experts to lead these trainings

Members Relation Team
  • Handling Feedback: by collecting concerns, conflicts, and suggestions through monthly surveys, HR email/phone, and setting up a process for addressing these issues
  • Boosting Volunteer Engagement organizing in-person meetings, random activities, and fun competitions

Talent Acquisition Team
  • Manage the interview process: sort applicants, schedule meetings, set selection criteria, and handle communications for accepted, rejected, or wait listed candidates
  • Continuous Monitoring: track committee member changes, manage recruitment for the conference day, and identify future potential for chair roles.
Working in the HR committee in GSR, I have learned how to work with minimal instructions.

Through out my experience in the HR committee, I have gained the ability to thoroughly research and build things from the ground up, while embracing and enhancing my creativity throughout the process.

As an HR member, I’ve learned how to maintain a positive environment among GSR members by addressing their conflicts and concerns. This experience has greatly enriched my understanding and skills especially since it’s my first time in this role!

I have developed the skill of breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable steps and effectively coordinating and delegating tasks with other committees to ensure clarity and collaboration.
